Modeling The Total Force At The Knee Joint During A Fatiguing Run

Running is associated with a high incidence of injuries. Neuromuscular fatigue considered risk factor, suggesting that the body in fatigued state less able to attenuate impact forces sufficiently, which leads overloading and PURPOSE: To model total knee force, consisting reaction muscle forces, using an OpenSim free diagram before after fatiguing run get insight into potential during running. METHODS: 7 recreational rear-foot striking runners (3F/4M, running >10 km p/w for >1 year; uninjured <6 months) ran on treadmill at 103% their average 8-km speed until perceived exhaustion. Data were obtained while overground up down 10-meter runway protocol 8 IMUs (240 Hz), reflective markers (100 Hz) 3D force plate (1000 Hz). Knee left leg was estimated sagittal plane as summation joint (JRF) extensor- flexor around knee. JRF derived from ground lower extremity free-body diagram; musculoskeletal OpenSim. RESULTS: Total inside (total tibia - femur) stance have tendency increase run: maximum increased 21.5 ± 2.3 BW 23 2.5 (paired t-test, p = 0.23). Main cause extensor muscular contractions (15.2 1.3 16.6 2.2 BW, 0.09) overall load, did not significantly change between non-fatigued (fig. 1).
